Pleasure Craft Operator Card Online Course

Register

CKBC Offers Free Pleasure Craft Operators Card Online course and exam through ACEBOATER.ca. This member benefit is for Officials and Volunteers who will be volunteering at, at least 2 regattas this summer. 

The first 20 registrants will be able to take the online course and subsequent exam for FREE, and then be able to help with officiating at any local/club or CKBC regattas. 

The course can be done at your own pace, and in the comfort of your own home.

Summer Camp 2020

Mississauga Canoe Club’s CANOE KAYAK KIDS Summer Camp is a skill development program designed to introduce the community’s youth to the Olympic sport of sprint canoe and kayak.

Delivered by qualified instructors, we maintain an instructor participant ratio of 1:8 with the emphasis placed on learning the paddling fundamentals and skills in a fun-filled environment. Full day campers will enjoy three hours of on water time in their choice of a canoe or kayak (or both!); dry-land co-operative games, arts & crafts and other fun and camp-oriented activities are also part of the fun. No prior canoeing or kayaking experience required. Minimum age requirement is 7 years old. Participants should be confident swimmers.

The Mississauga Canoe Club will provide all equipment including life jackets. Please contact Mississauga Canoe Club Head Coach if you have any questions about the program.

Canoe Kids Summer Camps

All Canoe Kids summer camps run for week between 9:30am to 3:00pm for ages 8-13. Price is $290/week, but holiday 4 day weeks are $230.

Regatta Ready

Register

Regatta Ready is for 10 – 16 year olds who want to learn more paddling skills and learn to compete in sprint canoe and kayak.  If you have participated in CanoeKids or have previous paddling experience, Regatta Ready is for you.

All programs run at Schwatka Lake between 9:00am to 2:30pm.

Participants in the Regatta Read Program are usually invited to travel to and participate in a sprint canoe kayak regatta outside the territory; however, we will not be participating in these regattas this year due to the covid pandemic.

Annual club membership fees to cover the cost of running the club (website, insurance, etc) as well as CKBC membership.  Basic membership which is required in order to register for programs and events.  

 

Please note:  This membership does not have any benefits such as boat usage, free programming, etc attached to it, it is purely to cover the operating costs of the club, and provide the insurance coverage necessary for the club to run events, programming and have access to District of Squamish land.

MCC Masters Summer 2020 Program - June Start

Please read important COVID-19 protocol updates:

  • Members and Club staff must abide by the Covid-19 signage posted by the City.
  • Clubhouse access will remain closed to athletes and parents until such time that restrictions have been lifted by both provincial/municipal legislatures. Access to washrooms and/or first aid permitted only in emergency situation.
  • Coaches will access the building only to open boat bay doors and access office; if required.
  • We will have an outdoor hand sanitizer station set up by the war canoe bay door.
  • Boats will be accessible for athletes at boat bays. Pavement has been marked off in sections to support the 2 meter separation rule. Athletes must clean and process their boats in marked assigned areas maintaining their distance from each other by following marked spots on pavement.
  • Masks and gloves will be provided for coaches. Athletes may bring their own if they choose.
  • Phase one of our re-opening will accommodate only singles canoe/kayaks. Athletes will be assigned to groups of no more than 5. We will process groups in waves so that they can safely enter and exit water. Each group of 5 or less will arrive at an assigned time 20 minutes apart. Once on water, boats must remain minimum 2 metres apart. No team boats at this time. Once practice session is complete, paddlers are to leave immediately.
  • Paddlers should arrive wearing their paddling clothes.
  • Equipment is not to be shared between athletes in a group.
  • Paddlers should bring their own filled water bottle(s). MCC’s water bottle filling station will not be accessible at this time.
  • Members and Staff are required to monitor their own health and complete a self-assessment prior to each visit. Members and Staff are expected to stay at home if they are exhibiting any Covid-19 symptoms, feeling unwell, have travelled outside Ontario during the past 14 days or have had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Members and Staff must practice physical distancing; staying a minimum of 2 meters apart from others at all times, unless household members. This requirement is enforceable under Provincial regulations.
  • Any areas that are frequently touched surfaces such as doors and light switches will be cleaned and sanitized following the guidance from Public Health Ontario. The Club shall maintain maintenance and cleaning log sheets and records
  • The CKC Waivers, as provided by the coaches, must be signed and returned to the club before athletes are permitted access to the boats. For athletes 17 & under the waiver must also be signed by their parent.

*Participants must be over the age of 25 to enroll in this program.

Program Schedule:

 Monday/Wednesday 6:30 – 8:30pm, Saturday 11am – 1pm                             

Program Duration:  June 8th – Sep. 26th                      

 Note: (*No practice from Aug. 31st – Sept. 8th)

Regular Masters Program:

Program Cost: $400 + HST = $452**

Extended Masters Program:

The 2020 MCC Extended Masters Program will run on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30 - 8:30pm and on Sunday from 10am – noon in addition to regular programming to provide additional on-water paddling opportunities. Program participants are advised that no coaching will be provided during this extended program.

Program Cost for Extended Masters Program:  Summer Masters membership ($452) + $60 + HST  =$519.80**

Saturday Only Masters Program:

The 2020 MCC Saturday Masters Program will run every Saturday morning (10am – 12pm).  

Note: (*No practice from Aug. 31st – Sept. 8th)

Program Cost for Saturday Masters Program:  $210 + HST  =$237.30 **

**as Canoe Kayak Ontario and Canoe Kayak Canada have not released updates regarding upcoming regattas, the racing fees are not included. These will be billed separately if required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Depending on upcoming events, athletes may be required to participate in:
    • Regular/Extended Program: 2 volunteer commitments
    • Saturday Only Program: 1 volunteer commitment
  • All participants are required to purchase a club-racing singlet ($56.50) in order to compete. If required, please ask your coach for more details.

CanoeKids Camp

Register

Pitt Meadows Paddling Club offers CanoeKayak Canada’s signature CanoeKids Day Camps focusing on skills development to introduce the sport of paddling. Children aged 8 –13 yrs experience sprint canoes, kayaks, dragonboats, outriggers, and recreational canoes. Available during July and August, campers will receive instruction in various types of paddling from certified coaches, and enjoy spending time on the water practicing what they’ve learned. The daily paddling activities are balanced with games and day trips to various spots along the river, as well as lots of swimming on those hot and sunny days. No experience is needed and campers work at their own pace to develop paddling skills.

Games, team boats, singles, pleasure canoes, voyageur canoe and the dragon boat will all be introduced to the participants during the week long sessions. The week finishes with a BBQ, mini regatta and certificate presentation.

Price – $250 for the program;  To register for a second camp this summer, or for a second child in the family, $210.  GST will be added and included in the total reflected.

Children must be 8 years of age to participate in the camp due to the physical expectations.

Le canotage pour tous est issu d’un projet de Canoë Kayak Canada qui vise à rendre disponible le canotage de vitesse aux personnes ayant des besoins spéciaux.

Le programme de canotage pour tous: vise l’apprentissage de canoës et kayaks de vitesse et récréatifs. Des notions de sécurité et des sessions d’entrainement sur terre et sur l’eau seront dispensées par des entraineurs qualifiés. Horaire; du 27 juin au 15 aout Jeudi de 18h à 20h Coût; 85$ frais du programme et de l'adhésion. (Les frais de course ne sont pas inclus.) 

Paddle ALL is a project introduced by Canoe Kayak Canada. The program is aimed at promoting individuals with disabilities to participate in the sport of Sprint Canoe
Kayak.

Paddle All Program: Learn to paddle recreational and sprint canoes and kayaks. You will have safety orientation, on land sessions, and on water sessions by qualified coaching staff. Schedule: June 27th to August 15th Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm Cost: $85 program and membership fee. (Race fees are not included.)

FCKC Virtual Training (May - June 2020)

Program Description:

Due to physical distancing measures put in place by municipal, provincial, and federal governments, we are offering a virtual training program. Lead by our Head Coach Connor Fehr, we will be running an 8-week virtual training program that will be carried out using online platforms. We tested this program throughout April and found it to be very successful consideration our current circumstances.

Participants will take part in live group workouts on Zoom and will be given weekly workouts to follow at home. In addition to the live workouts, athletes will chat with Coach Connor on a daily and weekly basis to discuss several different athlete development topics through athlete meeting and group discussions. 

Please note that even if you have registered for the April program, you will need to register for this to gain access to the training program.

Program Goals:

  1. Provide athletes a structured routine
  2. Support athlete development 
    1. Aerobic capacity 
    2. Sport specific strength development and endurance  
    3. Sport specific learning opportunities 

Schedule: Zoom link(s) will be sent to athletes at the start of every week.

* Afternoon workouts will be done by athletes individually, but will be expected to be completed.

Fees: 

  • HP and Jr HP $250 - full schedule
  • Development $200 - 3 days/week Encouraged to come on Mon, Wed & Sat, but welcome to join whenever works for your schedule 

Safety: 

To meet Safesport and insurance requirements we must follow the “Emergency Action Plan” (EAP), including: all athlete meetings will be recorded, to comply with the “modified rule of two”, and at least one parent must be in the same building as the athlete during the meeting.

MCC Senior High Performance 2020 Program - June Start

Please read important COVID-19 protocol updates:

  • Members and Club staff must abide by the Covid-19 signage posted by the City.
  • Clubhouse access will remain closed to athletes and parents until such time that restrictions have been lifted by both provincial/municipal legislatures. Access to washrooms and/or first aid permitted only in emergency situation.
  • Coaches will access the building only to open boat bay doors and access office; if required.
  • We will have an outdoor hand sanitizer station set up by the war canoe bay door.
  • Boats will be accessible for athletes at boat bays. Pavement has been marked off in sections to support the 2 meter separation rule. Athletes must clean and process their boats in marked assigned areas maintaining their distance from each other by following marked spots on pavement.
  • Masks and gloves will be provided for coaches. Athletes may bring their own if they choose.
  • Phase one of our re-opening will accommodate only singles canoe/kayaks. Athletes will be assigned to groups of no more than 5. We will process groups in waves so that they can safely enter and exit water. Each group of 5 or less will arrive at an assigned time 20 minutes apart. Once on water, boats must remain minimum 2 metres apart. No team boats at this time. Once practice session is complete, paddlers are to leave immediately.
  • Paddlers should arrive wearing their paddling clothes.
  • Equipment is not to be shared between athletes in a group.
  • Paddlers should bring their own filled water bottle(s). MCC’s water bottle filling station will not be accessible at this time.
  • Members and Staff are required to monitor their own health and complete a self-assessment prior to each visit. Members and Staff are expected to stay at home if they are exhibiting any Covid-19 symptoms, feeling unwell, have travelled outside Ontario during the past 14 days or have had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Members and Staff must practice physical distancing; staying a minimum of 2 meters apart from others at all times, unless household members. This requirement is enforceable under Provincial regulations.
  • Any areas that are frequently touched surfaces such as doors and light switches will be cleaned and sanitized following the guidance from Public Health Ontario. The Club shall maintain maintenance and cleaning log sheets and records
  • The CKC Waivers, as provided by the coaches, must be signed and returned to the club before athletes are permitted access to the boats. For athletes 17 & under the waiver must also be signed by their parent.

**the Junior HP program will be commencing on June 8th, 2020

  • Participants between the ages of 12-24 years old as of January 1st, 2020

Important Dates/Schedule:

  • Training schedule and important dates will be communicated by the coaches once these are available.

Cost:

  • Registration fee: $600 + tax **
  • Boat Storage: $75 + tax

**as Canoe Kayak Ontario and Canoe Kayak Canada have not released updates regarding upcoming regattas, the racing fees are not included. These will be billed separately if required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Depending on upcoming events, parents of each athlete may be required to fill in up to 2 volunteer commitments between now and September 26.
  • All participants are required to purchase a club-racing singlet ($56.50) in order to compete. If required, please ask your coach for more details.

EXPERIENCED MASTERS SUMMER 2020

This program is for full time members with extensive paddling experience (approved by the Head Coach) who own their own personal racing boats. With safety being of primary importance, members are advised not to paddle alone and to wear Canada-approved PFDs.  


COACHED MASTERS SUMMER 2020

This program is for adult,  full time members of the club who are learning the skills for sprint racing. Club equipment is supplied. On-water coaching and planned workouts take place three times per week,  led by an Assistant Coach.

Racing Development is for the newest youth members of our club who develop their skills at the club, and compete at the local / division level.

At NCKC Summer Camps, participants gain confidence in their canoe and kayak skills by being engaged in fun and dynamic activities both on and off the water.

Half Day Camps - 7 to 13 yrs  -  9 am - 12 noon or 1 - 4 pm

Full Day Camps - 9 to 13 yrs  -  9 am - 4:30 pm
